WISCONSIN’s First State PARK
Interstate State Park, Wisconsin: Uncover the wonders of Wisconsin's oldest state park, established in 1900! Interstate State Park, nestled along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Explore dramatic cliffs, deep gorges, and lush forests, all shaped by the forces of the last ice age. Hike trails that lead to breathtaking vistas, cascading waterfalls, and unique geological formations, including the "Old Man of the Dalles" rock formation, a testament to the powerful erosive forces of the river. Many of the park's trails, shelters, and buildings were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s, leaving a lasting legacy of their hard work and dedication to conservation. Discover the park's rich history at the Ice Age Interpretive Center and learn about the incredible events that shaped this landscape. Whether you're seeking a challenging climb, a leisurely stroll, or simply a peaceful escape into nature, Interstate State Park, provides an unforgettable outdoor experience.
